Hydrodyne Frequently Asked Questions
How long are the reagents good for?
The shelf life of most reagents is one year or greater. A few last no longer than 6 months (dissolved oxygen, chlorine free and total, cyanide free, cadmium, lead, mercury and formaldehyde). All should be stored in the box and out of direct sunlight and high temperature.
Are your tests EPA approved?
Most tests are. All tests are based on standard methods for water and waste water. Regulations vary from state to state. Check with your state EPA for the method required.
Are the instruments approved by the EPA?
No. The EPA does not approve equipment, only methods used.
What is the difference between chlorine free and chlorine total?
Chlorine total is the total amount added to the water for treatment. Chlorine free is the amount of chlorine available in the water for treatment. Chlorine total should always be equal to or greater than chlorine free.
What is the accuracy for your test?
All tests are accurate to +/- 5 percent. Most tests are around 2 percent.
What type of warranty do the instruments have?
All instruments have a three year warranty.
How do I calibrate my analyzer?
Both the AquaKing® and EZ-check use our Patented Curve fit (CF™) Technology which doesn't require any factory or end user calibration. The units self-calibrate every time a sample is analyzed.
How do I check the calibration of my analyzer?
We can provide standards for all the test we offer.
I didn't receive any instruction with my analyzer.
Most instructions for each test are stored in the analyzer (under full instructions). We can email, fax or mail a copy to you.
How do I dispose of the vials after I finish my test?
All reagent vials should be disposed or according to local EPA regulations. Most of the time, the vial can be diluted with tap water and flushed down the drain, but check with local EPA.
Who are some of your bigger customers?
We sell to state and local water and waste water plants, metal finishers, aqua culture, boiler maintenance, and education.
How do you send my order to me?
We typically ship UPS. We would be happy to use another carrier if you require.
What is the cost per test for your equipment?
The cost varies from test to test but averages about seventy cents per test for the pre-filled box of 50 vials.
How should I store my reagents?
For best results, leave in box out of direct sunlight and store at room temperature (25C).
How can I check my reagents to determine if they are good?
Check with a known standard solution. We can provide you standards.
Tell me how your equipment works?
Add 5 ml of a water sample to a vial that contains a reagent to form a color. Insert this into the analyzer and it will read the depth of color which relates to how much of that chemical (fluoride for example) in ppm is in the water.
What if I order your analyzer and reagents and I don't like the way it works? Can I send it back?
In most cases, we offer a thirty day trial period.
How do I pay for my order?
We accept Visa and Mastercard. We will gladly open a net 30 day account with trade references.
If I need to send in my analyzer for repair can I get a loaner to use?
Yes. We do offer loaners.
